Canadian Thanksgiving has long served as a harvest time reminder that the things that matter most can't be commodified. Kitchen secrets passed down through generations, finding the perfect pie to whipped cream ratio, and laughing over who actually won the wishbone pull are the type of joyous splendour that make Thanksgiving unique in its makeup. It's a day where we can finally collect ourselves after hectic summers and busy back-to-school schedules and give ourselves a pause to make a concerned effort to be more present in our own lives and make new memories with those whom we hold dear.
Whether you're the host, a guest, or even a party crasher, you'll be everybody's favourite when you greet them with a Lambrusco Spritz!
This rendition of the classic spritz uses Lambrusco, a sparkling red wine from the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy. Over the summer it was a picnic favourite, but this is an all terrain wine. Known for its fruitacious nature, it was a no brainer to us to use it in a spritz. Amaro adds richness along with a pleasing bitter edge, and fresh lemon juice adds bright acidity. The Lambrusco Spritz is a perfect cocktail to celebrate crisp fall evenings and to warm up the palates of your guests prior to a Thanksgiving feast! Here’s the recipe:
