In this week's blog, we're going to be spotlighting Chateau Peybonhomme-Les-Tours a winery steeped in tradition who like to do things their way.
Situated on the northern edge of Bordeaux's Right Bank, Chateau Peybonhomme-Les-Tours is a gorgeous historic Blaye estate where the Hubert family are forging forward with the future in mind. Certified Biodynamic as early as 2000, the 17th century chateau which boasts 64 Ha of vineyards and sweeping views across the rolling Blaye landscape. Its terroir was already recognized as exceptional in the 19th century, when Peybonhomme-les-Tours was classified as a Premier Cru Bourgeois in 1868.
Today, the estate is farmed by siblings Guillaume and Rachel Hubert, the fifth consecutive generation to steward this land since their great-great-grandfather purchased the property in 1890. Guillaume, who joined the family business in 2007 after studying environmental and ecological sciences, brings a deep respect for biodiversity and living soils. Rachel, originally trained as a pharmacist, joined him in 2012. Together, they’ve pushed the estate into a new chapter, crafting distinctive, expressive biodynamic wines that have earned Peybonhomme-les-Tours renewed global attention.
