Matthieu Barret’s entirely organic and biodynamic production located in Cornas in the northern Rhone Valley. Though born in Provence Matthieu, a 7th generation vigneron, joined his grandfather in Syrah’s dreamland in the late nineteen nineties. Prior to Matthieu’s involvement, his family sold all of their grapes, not once dipping their toe into the winemaking pool. Matthieu saw his family’s dedication to preserving the thriving and diverse ecosystems in their vineyards and has grown to pride himself on carrying forth these values. As such, he farms organically and biodynamically with a focus on low yields to craft wines that are expressive of the terroir of their origin. Though he uses Sulphur dioxide sparingly during the winemaking process, the wines of Matthieu Barret are ‘clean’ and true to what one should expect of wines from Cornas.
As always, quantities are extremely limited, and these won’t sit on shelves for long!
