Managed by Stefan Frey, and his sons Philipp and Christopher, the estate consists of 23 hectares of vines planted to a handful of varieties. Spread over 20 km from north to south, the estates holdings represent numerous soil types and microclimates. Since 2013, all of their vineyards have been farmed organically. Producing only 15,000 cases of wine a year, it is impressive how broad their range is. This wine, conveniently labelled as Pinot Noir, is one of the most impressive examples of Spatburgunder that we’ve come across. From the nose you could be fooled into thinking that this wine comes from Burgundy or perhaps Oregon. Very aromatic, it shows notes of cranberry, bramble, cola, and vanilla. Svelte on the palate, it has fresh acidity and silky tannins. An elegant style of Pinot Noir that shows all of it’s varietal character.
