Lewens, a London sommelier/restaurateur, and Concillis, the owner of Viticoltori de Conciliis, launched the Vigneti Tardis project in 2017. Their aim, to champion endemic grape varieties such as Fiano, Aglianico, Aglianicone, and Coda di Volpe. Their 3.6 hectares of vines in Cilento are cultivated according to biodynamic principles without any irrigation. Their approach in the cellar puts them in stark contrast with their regional peers. Whereis most Campanian wines are broadly structured blockbusters, the wines of Vigneti Tardis are elegant and refined. Even though their production remains small, Lewens and Conciliis are proving to be accomplished advocates for progress in an ancient winemaking region.
"This wine is made primarily from Primitivo grown on granite, limestone, and schist. The grapes are destemmed and after a few hours of maceration the juice is pressed off into stainless steel tank. It ferments on Fiano skins for tend days before being pressed for élevage. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered with 30ppm of SO2." - Juice Imports
