Pep Aguilar and Patri Morillo are two friends driven by a passion to make small-batch organic and biodynamic wines. Declaring themselves to be #nonconformist and #loyaltothesoils, the duo farm 7 hectares of vineyards in the town of Falset on the border of D.O. Priorat and D.O. Montsant. Although the Celler Comunica label was only created in 2010, the estate has a long history. Known as Mas d’en Cosme, it once hosted Indian Prime Minister Nehru in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War. Predominantly granitic soil allows Pep and Patri to make wines with freshness and vigour that aren’t obscured by oak maturation in the cellar. A lot of Montsant producers strive to mimic the bold wines of neighboring Priorat, but not Celler Cominica. The wines provide a more accurate translation of the region's distinct terroir.

The ‘Vi del Mas’ is Pep and Patri’s most accessible red wine. Made from a blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Syrah, half of the fruit was destemmed then naturally fermented in stainless steel and egg-shaped polymeric tanks. A short period of aging took place in these same vessels.
