It is in fact closer to Italy than it is to the rest of France, and many of the grapes planted on the island are Italian in origin. Domaine de Terra Vecchia is found on the east coast of the island, close to the Etang de Diana (“Diana Lagoon”). The domaine was purchased by winemaker Jean-François Renucci in 2011. This area has over 2000 years of winemaking history going back to the Phoenicians. The estate’s name actually translates to “Ancient Land’s” in the Corsican language. Made from Nielluccio (aka Sangiovese), the “Une Ile” is your classic light and zesty rosé. Fermented fully to dryness, it shows crunchy notes of honeydew melon, fresh strawberry and rhubarb.
