The estates contains 15 hectares in some of the most historic vineyards in Barbaresco. The vineyards have been farmed naturally since . . . well, always. The family believes in the concept of treating the vineyard as a "forest" and they allow over 300 different types of grass to grow between the vines together with an assortment of animals that roam through the vineyard to feed naturally.
Luca Roagna is a 5th generation grower, wine-maker and guardian of family tradition; and the family tradition is to make the ultimate in traditionalist Barbaresco wines:
- Natural vineyards
- Natural yeasts
- Neutral oak
- No enzymes
- Long maceration on the skins (60-90 days)
- Aged for 3-5 years in large neutral wood casks before bottling
- No fining, no filtering
- Minimal sulphites added at bottling
