The winery was passed down through generations of the family until the arrival of Giannicola Di Carlo, a bio-agronomist, who in the 1980’s decided to shift the direction of the estate to organic viticulture. In fact Agriverde was one of the first organic certified wine estates in all Italy. The winery itself was built according to “bio architecture” in harmony with the landscape. In the cellar they use music-therapy to allow “gentle refinement and promote the absorption of over-tones and nuances of the finest oak.”
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is inherently a very likable kind of wine. Bursting with flavor and medium-bodied, it offers immediate drinking pleasure and food pairing versatility. Ruby red with purple inflections, on the nose of this wine you discover ripe fruit aromas of red plum, black cherry, and boysenberry. Additional aromas of licorice and oregano lend a savory quality. Fine tannins and pronounced acidity on the palate are complemented by a touch of sweet oak spice on the friendly finish. A superb wine to enjoy with pepperoni pizza.
