Ress Family Wineries Weinhaus Pinot Noir

These are our lightest red wines including Pinot Noir, Gamay and other refreshing reds from around the world.
The Ress family's success is intrinsically tied to the town of Hattenheim. For generations a family of butchers, in the late 1800’s Balthasar Ress founded the “Gasthof Ress” inn on the towns main street. As a profitable hotelier-restaurateur, Balthasar produced house wines for his guests enjoyment. By the mid 1900’s the family would purchase additional land and properties, becoming a full fledged wine estate. By 1947 the estate owned 3 hectares of vineyards of vines. Today the estate has grown to 46 hectares of vineyards, and is managed by Christian Ress, a fifth generation winemaker.
In the glass this red wine presents itself with a dark cherry red colour. Slight streaks are formed at the edge of the glass when it is swivelled. The taste of this wine is particularly reminiscent of black currant and blackberries. But also sweeter tones such as raspberry and cherry are added. A round and pleasant red wine.
