It was purchased in 1996 by Renzo Marinai, who had partnered with oenologist Giovanni Cappelli to reorganize the winery and vineyards. After two decades Marinai decided to sell a majority share of the winery to Dutchman Tom Heidman. Today the estate is highly regarded not only for its wines, but also for olive oil and pasta.
Deep black-ruby red in appearance, on the nose this Chianti Classico shows distinctive aromas of concentrated cherry, fig compote, red plum, and chocolate. The medium-plus bodied palate is generously laden with plush red fruit flavors, moutfilling tannins and balanced acidity. There’s almost a sweet character to the barrel spice on the finish.
