Made from grapes harvested from seven cru vineyards, this is the flagship Barolo of Paolo Scavino. For winemaker Enrico Scavino it captures the overall character of the estate. He chooses to naturally ferment the grapes from each cru separately in steel tanks and age the wines in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months and 12 months in large oak casks. Once blended, the complete wine matured an additional year in steel tanks to harmonize. What you get is an immediately pleasing Barolo which will reward further cellar time. This is what the critics have to say about the 2017 Paolo Scavino Barolo:

“A solid 2017 with a linear flow of fine tannins through the center of the wine providing structure and backbone that gives the wine lovely energy. Lots of blackberries, ripe strawberries and blue fruit. Long and vivid. Drink after 2024.” - 94 points, James Suckling

“The Scavino family makes this appealing Barolo classico with fruit from seven different cru vineyards in the communes of Castiglione Falletto, Barolo and Serralunga d’Alba. It balances juicy flavors of crushed cherry and raspberry with earthy hints and warm spice notes. Its thick, chewy tannins will soften with time, but this is very appealing right out of the gate.” - 93 points, Wine & Spirits
