Oenops Xinomavraw

Created by talented Greek winemaker Nikos Karatzas, this natural cuvée is made from Xinomavro grapes harvested from 45 to 80-year-old vineyards in Naousa, Amyntaio & Rapsani. Spontaneously fermented in egg-shaped amphorae and large oak barrels, the wine was bottled without any filtration or added sulphites. A fresh expression of Greece’s premier red grape variety, it fully encapsulates Nikos’ raison d'être. When he created Oenops in 2015, Nikos set out to make minimal intervention wines that highlight the broad spectrum of Greece’s indigenous grape varieties. In his own words: “My professional philosophy is the same as my guiding principle in life: honesty. Clean wines, with character and harmony, that express the vineyard from which they came. That is my goal.”
