Levert Frères is one of the most ancient wine merchants in all of Burgundy. Founded in Mercurey in 1595 by the Levert brothers, the wines of the estate are today made by oenologist David Fernez. Aiming to find the right compromise between concentration, freshness and structure; reflecting generations of tradition; Fernez collaborates with a series of growers to obtain fruit from a swath of Burgundy’s vineyards. For this cuvée, Gamay and Pinot Noir grapes were harvested from vines planted to granitic soils. Bright cherry red in color and light bodied, on the nose aromas of tart raspberry and strawberry pair off with aromas of rose petal and potting soil. Fine tannins and charming fruit purity, make this a versatile food wine. We think it’s gutsy enough to even pair with robust dishes like Beef Bourguignon.
