Carmenere isn’t typically linked with Italy, but it’s been grown in the country’s northeast for over 150 years. Inama is one of the estates exploring its full potential, working with clones close to the original French vines.
Their 'Piu' blend includes a touch of Merlot and is aged for 12 months in used barriques and stainless steel. The result is a dark ruby wine with smooth tannins and ripe notes of blackberry, black cherry, and tobacco; without the usual green pepper edge.
