His father, Chris Phelps, is something of a living legend. Josh grew up knowing that his father made some of the most coveted wines on the planet. He soaked up as much knowledge as he could so that when the day came when he made his own wines, they would be great in their own right. With Grounded Wine Co the goal is to create wines that evoke a sense of place. Josh works with trusted farmers to source sustainably grown grapes in both California and Washington State. Where his fathers wines firmly rest in the $100+ camp, he focuses on the sub $50 price range. With Californian wine progressively getting more expensive, we applaud Josh’s aspiration to craft wines that are accessible to everyone.
This racy and crisp Sauvignon Blanc was made from grapes harvested from vineyards in the Santa Barbara, Central Coast, and inland valley regions. Picked during the early hours of the day, the grapes were immediately pressed at the winery and fermented in stainless steel tanks for freshness. It’s a wine laden with zesty acidity and notes of meyer lemon, green pear, lime and fresh peach.
