Monte Vulture, with its rich, dark, free-draining, volcanic soils, is one of the only places in southern Italy that can produce such rich, concentrated wines from Aglianico.

The Grifalco winery was created by Fabrizio and Cecilia Piccin in 2004. The 16 ha organically farmed estate is now run by their sons, Lorenzo and Andrea. Their plots are located between 450 and 580 meters above sea level, with vines up to 80 years old.

The Gricos is made from Aglianico grapes harvested from the wineries younger vines. The wine spends 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
