Gareth and Rainbo Belton are the creative force behind Gentle Folk Wines. Originally from South Africa, Gareth has lived in Australia for two decades. In their previous careers the couple worked as marine scientists specializing in the study of seaweed. It does not surprise that when they started growing grapes, they chose to do so according to the natural rhythms of the environment. They organically and biodynamically farm 7.5 hectares of vines spread over 5 sites, producing only 3500 cases of wine each year.

It’s with Gentle Folk’s single vineyard wines that things are dialed to 11! Scary Gully is home to some of the highest and oldest Pinot Noir vines in Adelaide Hills. Harvested three weeks later than in 2020, the grapes yielded a wine of intense focus and poise. The wine packs oodles of structure and fruits-of-the-forest wildness and spice. Succulent and pure, we’re excited to see how this wine develops over the years (it’s seriously delicious right now). Only 190 cases were produced in 2021.
