Since the late 1800’s this property has been managed by the Sireci family, whose dedication to indigenous Sicilian grape varieties and single-vineyard wines has placed Feudo Montonti amongst the great wine estates of Italy. Their tending of the vineyards is strictly organic and in the cellar, artisanal practices are lovingly applied. These are deeply soulful wines!
The Feudo Montoni Inzolia dei Fornelli was made from Inzolia grapes harvested from a single “cru” vineyard in Cammarata (Agrigento). The name has its origins in the ancient ovens, called “ fornelli” where clay present in the soil was used to make amphora to store wine. The wine was vinified and aged in concrete tanks to preserve freshness. Our initial assessment of this wine brought us to the gentle slopes of Chablis, given the wine's texture and minerality. Given time to open, the wine's Mediterranean character becomes more apparent. Crisp notes of yellow melon and citrus lead to elegant aromas of sea salt, chamomile and iris. A beautiful pairing for fresh seafood.
