A local who went to work for famed Alsatian winemaker Zind-Humbrecht and then returned to the village of Cocumont, Elian was the first winemaker to bottle wine under the Côtes du Marmandais appellation. Working with unique local varieties like Abouriou in addition to more commonly known varieties, his wines have been known to outshine some Médoc Grand Crus.
This Merlot-dominant blend is the king of Elian’s lineup. Baquey comes from its eponymous lieu-dit and has some serious ageworthy potential.
