Chiorri Sangiovese

For 5 generations the Chiorri family have run this wine estate located in the rolling hills of Perugia. The winery was originally founded in 1890 by Antonio Chiorri. Today his descendent, Monica, runs the business along with her husband Francesco. The couple sustainably farm 25 hectares of vineyards. Made from 100% Sangiovese, this cuvée showcases why Umbria is often described as ‘the next Tuscany’. Ruby red in the glass, it has fresh notes of van cherry, ripe cranberry, roasted red pepper, oregano and espresso. The palate is medium bodied with fine grained tannins and fleshy red fruit flavors. On the finish the wine is lingering and savory. A classic pairing for Italian cuisine, we suggest serving it with pappardelle pasta smothered with wild boar ragu.
