*Pick up orders are available next day for pick upBased in Saint-Vérand in southern Beaujolais, Jean-Etienne Chermette learned the ropes alongside his father before launching his own project in 2018. Today, he farms just over 11 hectares of vines (averaging 40 years old) across top sites from Fleurie and Morgon to Moulin-à-Vent, as well as Légny and Saint-Vérand. “Vissoux Une Vie en Beaujolais” is a tribute to his late uncle and the Vissoux family, who have cared for these vineyards since the 1700s. It’s made from Gamay grapes harvested from 70-year-old vines rooted in dark granitic soils, fermented with partial carbonic maceration in concrete, and aged for six months in stainless steel. The result is a vibrant, ruby-hued wine with silky notes of raspberry, blackcurrant, and pomegranate, lifted by fresh acidity and smooth tannins. It’s purely delicious and effortlessly drinkable.
