Adega da Cartuxa is an icon of Alentejo’s wine industry. The business was founded by the Eugénio de Almeida family in the nineteenth century. Today Adega da Cartuxa is managed by a foundation that was setup in the family 's name - the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida. The foundation farms 600 hectares of vineyards and produces wines at two separate facilities - Quinta de Valbom and Monte de Pinheiros.

The Monte de Pinheiros Tinto is gutsy, and yet still approachable. Deep purple red in appearance, the nose unfurls lavish aromas of dark plum, dried fig and tobacco. Chocolatey dark berry flavors that coat the palate are complemented by firm tannins and a fruity finish.
