Teobaldo Cappellano was one of Barolo's last great traditionalist winemakers. A legend among his colleagues and admirers, he was completely unapologetic and unwavering in his determination. The president of the influential Vini Veri (“true wine”) group, he famously banished all journalists from his cellar unless they agreed to review his wines without scores. He produced less than 800 cases of Barolo each year.

The Barolo Rupestris is made from grapes harvested from the mythic Gabutti vineyard on Serralunga’s best slope. A true old school Barolo, it was vinified traditionally for 14 to 21 days using indigenous yeasts.  Ageing took place in well-seasoned botti for at least three years. This a Barolo of incredibly depth and structure, showcasing classic notes of dried cherries and rose petals.
