After graduating from wine school, Pauline and Géraud Fromont knew they wanted to do something spectacular so they founded Marnes Blanches. Tucked into the southern Jura, their project was names for the white marl soils that their vineyards are planted in. Since those bygone days of their early adulthood, the couple have earned a loyal following for wines that balance tradition with a spirit of experimentation: ouillé Chardonnays, oxidative Savagnins, and featherweight reds from native grapes.
The last few harvests in Jura, a tiny winemaking region tucked betwixt Burgundy and Switzerland, have been notably tiny due in large part to a myriad of weather related issues. Géraud took this as an opportunity to expand into a new project and Coup de Jus was born! Sourcing organic grapes from likeminded grape growers in France's warmer regions, this sexy little side hustle has sparked joy in the hearts of wine nerds across the globe!
We’re thrilled to share a fresh lineup from both Domaine des Marnes Blanches and Coup de Jus, featuring some of our favourite bottles for the summer! Pick 'em up at any Vine Arts while supplies last, but you should hurry! Quantities are extremely limited.
From Marnes Blanches:
Cremant du Jura - $53.36 (+tax/deposit)
100% Chardonnay
A sparkling Jura classic that proves patience pays off. Chardonnay from 1983 vines is direct-pressed into old oak, where it slowly ferments and rests through the winter. Come spring, it’s bottled for its second fermentation, then aged over two years on the lees. Golden apple, toasted hazelnut, cool limestone, and a spot of brioche. Bone dry (<2g/L dosage) but utterly generous.
Les Fouilles - $67.72 (+tax/deposit)
Pinot Noir, Trousseau, Poulsard
An iconic Jura field blend from 20–45-year-old vines planted on deep clay-marl soils in the heart of Arbois. Pinot Noir, Trousseau, and Poulsard are co-fermented with whole bunches, then aged in barrel and demi-muid for 10 months. Silky red fruit, rose petals, forest floor, and a flick of black tea tannin. Elegant and earthy, with a quiet complexity. Classic Jura, turned up to ten.
From Coup de Jus:
Coup de Jus "Zeus Gonewild" - $43.52 (+tax/deposit)
100% Grenache
Bright and juicy, this organic Grenache from the southern Rhône bursts with ripe red fruit and a touch of spice. Fermented whole cluster and aged 10 months in 600L barrels, it’s fresh, playful, and dangerously easy to drink.
Coup de Jus "Bulle Ton Body" - $43.52 (+tax/deposit)
50% Pinot Blanc, 50% Auxerrois
Bubbles with bounce. This pét-nat is built from old Alsatian vines planted in 1978, whole-cluster pressed and bottled mid-ferment for a natural sparkle. Crunchy orchard fruit, lemon drop, honeysuckle, and a hint of sourdough starter make it hum with life. Zippy, refreshing, and exactly what you want in the fridge when friends swing by.
Coup de Jus "Dionysos is on Fire" - $43.52 (+tax/deposit)
100% Gamay
Unruly in all the right ways, this Gamay from Beaujolais brings crushed red berries, violet petals, and a whisper of smoke and spice. Whole-cluster fermented and barrel-aged for 10 months, it’s energetic, bright, and impossible to put down.
