Carnival Cocktails for Cancer was born to honour the memory of the late, great, and fabulous Jennifer Gardiner, aka Jen Unplugged.
Jen passed away in 2014 after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer. Following her diagnosis, Jen stepped into the role of activist, raising awareness for colorectal cancer as well as advocating for the importance that clinical trials play in finding a cure for this ravenous disease. Jen was transcendent, inspiring countless others battling cancer through sharing her story. She was featured in the documentary The Uplife Project where she encouraged everybody to "live fiercely, live out loud, and be present in every second of life," a motto she embodied until her last days.
Jen's legacy lives on through continued fundraising efforts, including Carnival Cocktails for Cancer, which helps to support vital cancer research and patient care. All proceeds from Carnival Cocktails for Cancer go directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, helping to fund life-saving research and care here in Alberta.
For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic upended all of our lives, the most delicious way to help end cancer is back! From September 5th through the 14th order a cocktail or featured dish at one of the participating bars and restaurants and have a portion of the proceeds from the cocktail be donated to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. These donations will go to support cancer research, treatment, and care of patients here in Alberta.
