*Pick up orders are available next day for pick upVeronica Ortega holds an impressive track record. She has worked in areas such as Clos Erasmus, Álvaro Palacios, Domaine Comte Armand, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Combier and Raul Perez.
In 2010, she moved to the Bierzo appellation in the region of Castilla y León, where she began producing her own wines. Initially, she vinified in the cellar of Raul Perez, to finally acquire her own facilities in 2014. Having learned organic and biodynamic cultivation of the vine, she naturally applies the same methods to her own vines (aged an average of 80 years) and harvests everything manually.
Verónica Ortega's Kinki 2021 is a red wine from 'Paraje La Llamilla, Villa de Congosto'. This is the fourth vintage of this cuvée from a single vineyard located in Cobrana, a small town with a deep-rooted wine-growing tradition in Bierzo Alto, bordering the Bierzo Designation of Origin. This vineyard, with an altitude of 750m, has interesting blue slate soil, combined with red clay. The vines are over 90 - 100 years old.
This Kinki is aged in an 800-litre amphora for 8 months, to keep a fresh and light profile. The ageing process took place under a thick and thin veil, with the scent of lemon and green apple. This has undoubtedly contributed to a sharpening of the wine's profile, making it much more saline and electric.
