Abbatucci Cuvee Rouge Faustine
This is a mix of old world classics and obscure new gems! For those that prefer a little spice in their wine, or a touch of funk in their glass, this is the section for you. Featuring a broad selection of classics such as Cotes-du-Rhone, Rioja and Barolo, to new wave natural wines and much more.
Created in 1950 in the area of Ajaccio, Domaine Comte Abbatucci extends across 100 hectares of land. Consisting mostly of olive trees and forest, only 18 hectares are planted to vine. The property has been farmed according to biodynamic principles since 2000.
The winery was created by Antoine Abbatucci, a descendant of Napoleonic war hero, General Jean-Charles Abbatucci. Antoine did much to protect the island's native grape varieties, many of which were on the verge of extinction. His son Jean-Charles manages Domaine Comte Abbatucci today.
The Cuvee Faustine Rouge is made from a blend of 70% Sciaccarellu 30% Niellucciu. Light ruby in colour, it has aromas of rose petals, raspberry, wild berries, and savoury herbs. Medium bodied with silky texture, on the palate there are flavours of bright red cherry, rhubarb, strawberry, black pepper, and wild herbs. A perfect warm weather red.
