Yohan Lardy Poppy Gamay
We’ve always been strong advocates of Cru Beaujolais. The quality to price ratio is hard to beat. That being said, we’re equally big fans of accessible everyday Gamay. Especially when it’s made by great producers like Yohan Lardy. Yohan produces the Poppy from grapes sourced from 60 year old Beaujolais-Villages vines, plus some fruit from Moulin-a-Vent. The wine is named after the poppy flowers that grow in his vineyards. Hand-harvested, the grapes were naturally whole-cluster fermented with partial carbonic maceration for 7 days. Aged for 4 months in concrete tanks, the wine was neither fined or filtered. Elegant and youthful, this is classic Gamay. Best served with a slight chill, this light red wine has fresh notes of garden strawberry, cranberry, blackcurrant leaf and violet.
