Mouchao Dom Rafael Red

These are our steak wines – our fullest bodied red wines for those who prefer a little oomph in their glass. From Cabernet Sauvignon to Petite Verdot, from Bordeaux to the Napa Valley, these wines don’t pull any punches!
Founded by John Reynolds at the turn of the 20th century, Herdade do Mouchão remains a traditional family run winery. Situated in the rolling landscape of Alentejo, the family still harvests their vines by hand and crushes the grapes by foot. The Dom Rafael Tinto is made from grapes sourced from old Aragonêz, Trincadeira, Castelão and Alicante Bouschet vines on the Mouchão Estate. As it was done a century ago, the wine was fermented in a large stone of ‘lagare’ and matured in oak ‘tonels’ and barriques. Inky purple in colour, the nose has smoky aromas of blackberries and tobacco. The full bodied palate has ripe tannins and brambly blackfruit flavours.
