La Garreliere Sans Tra La La Gamay
Domaine de la Garrelière is the home of François and Pascaline Plouzeau. Located near the village of Richelieu south of Tours, this little winery is making big waves in the sommelier community. Vines have thrived on this site since the days of Cardinal Richelieu in the early 1600's. Today the 20 hectares of vineyards are managed according to sustainable principles without the aid of any chemicals or pesticides. François, a modest winemaker, harvests his grapes only when they are perfectly ripe. His approach in the winery is minimalist and traditional. The "Sans Tralala" is made from 100% Gamay fermented naturally without the 'help' of commercial yeasts. It is a classic example of French vins de soif, or "wine of thirst". Bright violet red in colour, this wine bursts with fragrant aromas of fresh raspberries, pomegranates and rose petals. The light and elegant palate is packed with juicy red fruit flavours and soft tannins. This refreshing number is best served a little chilled. It is great on its own or with a simple spread of soft cheeses and charcuterie.
