Jean-Louis Chapuy is the epitome of an artisan winemaker.  He is the fourth generation to be at the helm of this tiny winery in the Chiroubles appellation of Beaujolais. The estate covers 2 hectares of vines, all of which are very old; the youngest parcels were planted in 1953, with the majority planted just after the First World War.

This Chiroubles is highly aromatic on the nose, with notes of strawberry and cherry, rose petal, cinnamon, cracked pepper, and sassafras.  The palate is richly fruited, with replays of red berry, with a striking inner-mouth perfume of dried flowers, cinnamon, and clove.  The structure is silky and sophisticated, with an old vine concentration that adds a pleasant textural nuance. Although this is drinking perfectly now, Jean-Louis’ Chiroubles can age for several years.
