Many moons ago, before the internet was a thing, the wines of Hungary were regarded as some of the most prestigious cuvees on continental Europe. Foreign royal families had cellars full of golden hued bottles with hard to pronounce names like Tokaji, Harslevlu, and Kekfrankos. History took a turn in the early twentieth century as Europe bore the brunt of both world wars, little changed as the Iron Curtain and communism held eastern Europe in its unrelenting fist. Winemaking in the area ceased to exist to the calibre that it once had, but with the spirit of perseverance Austrian and Hungarian vinters have found themselves once more on the world stage and for very good reason. Join us at Vine Arts Victoria Park for a night of wine, history, and perhaps a few chuckles along the way.
*Please note this tasting will take place at our Victoria Park location at 1310 - 1st Street SW. The tasting will include a selection of cheese and charcuterie from our friends at Peasant Cheese. Due to the high demand and limited space for our tastings, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to another guest if you’re unable to join us, but we do not offer refunds for our tastings.
