Zsirai Dry Tokaj White Blend

Time and time again, the wines from Hungary’s Zsirai winery make us stand up and pay attention. The quality to price ratio is just astounding. Created in 2005 by Csaba Zsirai, today the winery is in the very capable hands of sisters Petra and Kata Zsirai. The ‘Tokai Dry’ is one of the newest additions to their portfolio of wines. Made from a distinct mix of Furmint and Hárslevelű, the wine spent 7 months aging in Hungarian oak barrels (plus a small percentage in stainless steel). The time in the barrel added a discrete touch of baking spice to notes of ripe yellow apple, orange blossom, and honeycomb. The acidity is crunchy and the flavors fresh. Absolutely stellar for the price point.
