Grüner is the Swiss-Army knife of wines. Versatile and cutting. Wine drinkers love it for it’s refreshing flavours, while sommelier’s love it for its ability to pair with almost anything you can put on the plate. Asparagus? No problem. Spice? Grüner loves it. The Weszeli Langenlois Grüner Veltliner offers all of this with a great looking label. Situated close to the town of Langenlois, in eastern Austria, Weingut Weszeli holds 30 hectares of vineyards planted to Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The estate is owned by Davis Weszeli, who is advised by winemakers Rupert and Elizabeth Summerer. The Summerer family have tended the vines here as far back as 1679. Today they practice sustainable viticulture with no chemical treatments. The fruit for the Langenlois Grüner Veltliner comes from natural green harvested vines that range from 5 to 50 years in age. Light and lively, expect bracing notes of fresh squeezed lime, grapefruit zest, and ginger. High in acidity, this is a great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc.
