Talo Verdeca Puglia IGP
$24.51
Verdeca is a rare grape variety almost exclusively grown in the areas of Taranto and Bari. Thought to have originated in the eastern Mediterranean, Verdeca is typically citrusy and herbal. For this cuvée San Marzano chose to do 6-8 hours of cold maceration prior to the fermentation in French oak barrels. Then came 3 months aging with periodic bâtonnage (stirring of the lees).
Pale straw yellow in appearance, on the nose you find rich aromas of fresh green apple, lemon peel, citrus blossom, chopped basil and honey. The palate is medium bodied with creamy texture and vanilla spice. Vibrant flavors of pineapple, peach, and melon are balanced by pronounced acidity. The finish is dry and refreshing.
