Rias Baixas Abellio Albarino

Pronounced “alba-reen-yo”, this is a light bodied and refreshing white wine perfect for summer days. Albariño is grown mostly in northwestern Spain and Portugal, where the climate is cooler and damper. Rectoral do Umia is located in the Salnés Valley of DO Rías Baixas, not far from the Atlantic Ocean. The winery was founded in 2009 and is managed by winemaker Carlos Blanco. The wines are made from grapes harvested from 130 hectares of vineyards farmed by 200 grape growers. The Abellio is made from 100% Albariño that was vinified over 15 days and aged 9-months on fine lees. In the glass this crisp white wine expresses notes of grapefruit, melon, lemons, and green apples. The finish is dry with saline minerality. A tasty alternative to Sauvignon Blanc.
