Reinisch Pinot Noir

$28.89

Located about 30 kilometres south of Vienna is Weingut Johanneshof Reinisch. This winery is located in the appellation of Thermenregion, which is part of the larger Niederosterreich. The area has been known for the production of high quality wines for centuries. The winery was founded in 1923 in the town of Tattendorf by the Reinisch family. Passed down through four generations, the estate today covers 40 hectares, mostly in the area around Tattendorf as well as in Gumpoldskirchen and Guntramsdorf.

This is how the winemaker describes this wine – “Grapes from vineyards around Tattendorf and, to a lesser extent, near Gumpoldskirchen, are grown for our fruity and finesse-laden Pinot Noir, which is matured exclusively in large wooden barrels. In years with especially favourable weather conditions, we create a highly complex Pinot Noir from grapes grown in the Holzspur vineyard in Tattendorf. The vines here were planted in 1975. Following careful selection of the grapes and fermentation in wooden tanks, we mature the wine in small wooden barrels for approximately 18 months. After further maturation in bottles for another 12 months, the wine is released for sale.”
