Named after Jean-Baptiste de Cibon, a captain in the royal marines of Louis XVI, Clos Cibonne is one of the great domaines of Provence. Managed by Olivier Deforges, the winery produces traditional wines from the rare Tibouren grape variety. Produced in small numbers, these wines are keenly sought out the world round.
The Clos Cibonne Cuvée Prestige Olivier is made from 60% Syrah, 25% Tibouren and 15% Grenache, and given the full barrel treatment (one-third new). The oak is used as a buffer and not as a “cocktail mix”. Complex, dense and structured with lovely peppery, black cherry and blackberry fruit, modern and dense with a grippy, cedary edge to the dense black fruits.
