Old Westminster is a 50 acre low-intervention family winery that has raised the profile of Maryland wines. Over the last ten years, Old Westminster has become one of the most inventive and buzzed about wineries on the Eastern seaboard. Lisa Hinton-Baker (30), a Chemist by education, is one of the few female winemakers east of the Pacific states, crafting fresh and living wines at Old Westminster since she was 23. Her older brother, Drew Baker (32), is the family’s vigneron.
This is how the winery describe this wine – “This Chardonnay, grown in channery loam soils overlaying a bedrock of greenstone, offers bright aromas and refreshing acidity. Harvested on September 9, 2017 and blended with 2% Albariño for liveliness. Fermented with native yeast in 85% stainless steel and 15% neutral French oak. Bottled unfiltered on June 5, 2018.”
