The Soplar is made from a cépage of Tempranillo and Garnacha Peluda grapes hand harvested from biodynamic farmed vineyards in Rioja Alta’s Golden Mile. The vines, which average 25 years in age, are planted to calcareous clay soils. A fresh take on an iconic Spanish wine region, 6th generation winemakers Janire and Patricio Moraza fermented the wine naturally in concrete tanks. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration. No additional sulphites were added.

This wine is a clear departure from the traditional oak influenced red wines of Rioja. Its vivid garnet red color mirrors notes of fresh picked red plum, pomegranate, and hibiscus tea. The palate is medium bodied and lip-smacking fresh. Tense flavors of chelan cherry, sour rhubarb, and cranberry are boosted by nimble tannins and invigorating acidity. Best served with a slight chill.
