Monteraponi Baron Ugo Toscana Rosso IGT

$131.38

The Chianti farmhouse Monteraponi, once belonging to Earl Ugo, Marquis and Governor of Tuscany, is situated in an ancient medieval village, and built around three square towers dating from the tenth century. The complex located on the hill of the same name at an altitude of 470 meters overlooking the valley below which slopes toward the river Arbia. Michele Braganti, owner and proprietor of Monteraponi, makes wine in Radda in Chianti. Radda, straddling Florence and Siena is the wildest area in the entire Chianti Classico region. The vineyard and cellar is operated according to an organic philosophy, an approach that focuses on nature and on the respect of the lands and grapes.

“The 2018 Baron’Ugo is super impressive. Rich and yet nuanced, Baron’Ugo captures a striking expression of the estate. Dollops of Canaiolo and Colorino add nuance to the Sangiovese. Those complementary varieties work so well in making Baron’Ugo the most distinctive and evocative wine in this range from Monteraponi.” – 94 points, Vinous
