“Monteraponi’s predominantly southeast-facing vineyards are among the highest in Chianti Classico, reaching a cool 560 metres. The wines are typically bright and racy and the 2020 annata is no exception. Following spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, it spends over a year in large French and Slavonian oak botti and is neither filtered nor fined. Particularly lightweight and slim-built, it demonstrates candid notes of pepper and herb blossoms on a backdrop of cranberry. Powdery tannins take a backseat to the driving acidity.” – Decanter
