Marcarini Barolo La Serra DOCG

Marcarini was founded in the 1850s, and is today owned by Manuel Marchetti. The 25  hectare estate consists of 20 hectares of vineyards in the commune of La Morra. Marcarini’s prized parcels are located in the crus of Brunate and La Serra.

Marcarini Barolo “La Serra” DOCG is garnet in color with slight orange reflections, a shade or two deeper than the Brunate; the bouquet is typical of the La Serra cru, floral (rose and violet petals, mountain flowers), ethereal, appealing and intense; dry, full and sturdy on the palate, austere yet velvety, extremely well balanced.

“So much ash and dried-strawberry character. Burnt orange-peel undertones. Tar, too. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Lots of rose petals. This needs four or five years to open, but nicely integrated now.” – 97 points, James Suckling
