Intellego was created in 2009 by Lammershoek assistant winemaker, Jurgen Gouws, who has worked with some of Swartlands biggest names (Eben Sadie, Tom Lubbe, and Craig ‘El Bandito’ Hawkins). He also worked in France with Stephane Ogier in Côte-Rotie. The name of the winery translates “to understand” in Latin. The fruit for Gouws’ wines come from leased vineyards and purchased fruit. His preference is for dry farmed bush vines that are farmed organically. 

This is how Jurgen describes the Kedungu – “After a great surfing experience in Bali we ended on a high with the best surf at this special spot called Kedungu in my hungover state. This experience and energy were transferred into the wine when we bottled a few months after my trip. Whole bunch fermented under semi-carbonic conditions for 8 days in stainless steel tanks. Aged in a mixture of different size old barrels which help preserve these vibrant flavours.”
