Hope Well is a project started by Mimi Casteel located on a beautiful ridge in Salem, OR in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA.  Mimi is no stranger to the Willamette Valley wine industry, as the younger daughter of the co-founders of Bethel Heights, Ted Casteel and Pat Dudley.

The 2020 Hunter’s Moon Chaenin Blanc comes from the second pass harvest of the Hope Well vineyard. This pick was two weeks later than the first with the October Hunter’s Moon.

“This was a truly fascinating experiment in late-season time on the vine. With two picks ten days apart, we ended up with two wines that were nearly identical across all the numbers we look at. Brix and pH were the same. But with the second pass we captured some lovely dry botrytis that had converted some of our sugars to glycerol, which is not fermentable in late season” – Mimi Casteel
