Gut Oggau Josephine

$68.30

Created by Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe in 2007, Gut Oggau is a leader in the movement towards sustanable and natural winemaking in Austria’s Burgenland wine region. Working with vines that haven’t seen pesticides or chemical treatments for over 20 years, they are able to bottle wines with incredible life and vigour. The Gut Oggau Josephine is a blend of Blaufrankish and Roesler that was vinified in used 500, 1000 and 1500-liter barrels. Matured for 8 months in 500-liter barrels, the wine was bottled unfined, unfiltered, with zero addition of sulfur.

When Eduard and Stephanie started Gut Oggau they noticed that each wine had a distinct personality just like people. Each wine has been labelled and named based on an evolving personality that grows from vintage to vintage. This is how they described Josephine – “Timotheus’s second wife and Winifred’s stepmother. An easy-going and somewhat voluptuous lady, she first found the love of her life at a slightly older age. Shaped by her tempestuous youth, she is an unconventional type that radiates vitality and enjoys life to the fullest. She feels most at home in company, is open to strangers, and rewards friends with deep insights into her innermost qualities.”
