Glenelly Estate Reserve Chardonnay

$20.98

The historic Glenelly Estate dates back to 1682, when the land was purchased by French Huguenot, Francois Villion. In 2003 it was purchased by May de Lencquesaing, then the owner of the famed Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux winery, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. A true grande dame of the industry, Lencquesaing’s family have been selling wines for nearly 250 years. Her decision to uproot and settle in South Africa at the age of 78 was out of respect for the country’s winemaking heritage and her belief that she could make world class wines in Stellenbosch. Today her grandchildren Nicolas Bureau and Maxime Bureau manage day to day operations of the 128ha estate.

“The Estate Reserve Chardonnay displays a wonderful bright crisp colour, with vibrant citrus, lime zest and hints of butterscotch on the nose. The palate is lush and the creamy texture is underpinned with beautiful mineral notes of toasted almond and vanilla. The finish is fresh with great minerality and with a nervous energy about it.” – Glenelly Estate
