The Frontonio line is a very cool passion project for winemaker Fernando Mora, who also happens to be working on his Masters of Wine (MW) designation! As mentioned earlier the wine was named after Saint Frontonio who, as legend has it, was beheaded by the Romans and his head was thrown into the river Ebro. Miraculously his head is said to have been found going upstream along the banks of the river…just a morbid little tidbit.
The Frontonio Telescopico is blend of primarily Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo with a splash of Viognier. It was co-fermented in concrete tanks, where it rested for six months on the lees with bâtonnage for texture.
