Favia Carbone Chardonnay

$69.99

Top tier Napa Valley Chardonnay from a famed winemaker. Andy Erickson’s resume includes some impressive winemaking roles at Kongsgaard, Harlan Estate, Dancing Hares, Staglin Family Wines, and Screaming Eagle. In addition to his work at Favia, he also makes wines currently for Ovid, Dalla Valle, Mayacamas, Marciano and Arietta. Andy and his wife Annie Favia created Favia Wines in 2003. Annie previously worked with famed viticulturalist David Abreu. The couple recently purchased a historic Coombsville property once owned by  Antonio, Lorenzo, and Nicola Carbone. First planted to vine in the late 1800’s, the property has been lovingly restored by Andy and Annie.

This Chardonnay is produced from grapes harvested from 32 year old vines planted on the Coombsville property. The name is a nod to the vineyards heritage. Vinified in the cellar beneath the 19th-century farmhouse, the wine is medium straw in colour, and displays notes of yellow apple, quince, poached pear, cinnamon, and allspice. Thanks to chilly Pacific winds and volcanic soils, this wine has excellent acidity and minerality.
